How japan, the us and the soviets influenced china. Japan provided much early importation of western ideas to china in the 1800s, but turned out to be a deadly enemy. Talked about language, nationality and confucianism. Many of the words for western ideas were imported after japan translated from the west like “society”, “citizenship” and others. Confucianism always has been a contentious issue whether to promote or suppress as a pillar of chineseness. Im looking forward towards the next chapter about overseas chinese :)
