Status Updates From Early Thirties: A Novel

I know I’m jaded bc I just read the sentence “Lately I keep thinking about the obsession I’d had with Taylor Swift’s ‘Forever and Always’, the notion of a rainstorm in my bedroom.” and rolled my eyes

I like the life lessons thrown in here. There is a beauty in life just doing what it does, the curveballs. I really like seeing how people change and evolve, and the implications that has on interpersonal dynamics. It’s messy in a realistic way and I can appreciate it. Definitely not something I was able to really get into until about 70% of the way through but I’m liking it more now

I don’t hate the book, it’s just not for me. I’m not emotionally connected to any of these characters and idk the lack of plot seems intentional so I get it but I don’t like it. I’ll finish it though only because I’m nosy and want to know where the characters are going to end up

Ok what’s the plot here…. Why are these randoms also with a pov chapter?

This book is a little boring and sad. I think I like romance novels because of the whimsical vibes and the less seriousness of it all. For work I deal with so many life situations and seriousness that I seek that whimsical fun in stories as an escape. Not a bad read so far, I am curious as to where the plot is headed but meh

Started this book today solely based off the cover and title, hoping for some semblance of relatability but we started off STRONG in chapter 1 and I’m currently in chapter 3 so we’ll see. Oh and strong as in heavy, not in a positive sense but I’m giving it a try so let’s see 😅
