Status Updates From Escape from Capitalism: An ...

I can already tell that I'm going to love this book. I have seen the author do a couple of interviews for podcasts, and she struck me as both very astute and sincere in her study of economic relations. She uses language that is very accessible to the average person, so I'm excited to see her perspectives on class struggles.

“When working-class people lose, our economic system wins.” pg 91

“If we barely have the energy to make it to the end of the month, how can we find the strength to participate in any collective initiative toward alternative economic structures or even just protect our rights?” page 59

“In a system based on increasing monetary value, positive results for people are mere byproducts of economic operations whose main objective is profit.” page 36

I’d say if you only read one book about capitalism in the world today, it’s this book. Also, good audio. Doesn’t really provide ways to escape capitalism though (unless it’s in final 10%)
