I think it is possible, when I look at late Titian, that he is working off a combination of nerves and unconscious memories, an inexhaustible store of memory outside of time.

Now, in old age, Titian is always
coming up with solutions for which he was trying when younger. There is
no point in lamenting your lack of muscle as you get old. It is knowledge
you need, not muscle. False memory soon fills the vacuums in true memory.
Why not raise a monument to amnesia and forget where you put it?
