This might be the stupidest misunderstanding trope I’ve read in a book and I’ve read a good range of those.

“Not doubt my massive emotional attack has scared him away. Meeting Harlan Holcombe will soon fade to an amusing story to tell at parties. But secretly I will know. I will know that one beautiful autumn afternoon Harlan Holcombe bore my sorrow like a champion friend. And secretly I will know that on that same beautiful autumn afternoon, I fell a little bit in love with him because he did.” (silent scream)

I’m not even at the 100 page mark and this is probably gonna be my favorite book I read this year. If that feels premature, let me tell you that this book has taken me through the entire spectrum of emotion in just the bit I’ve read. So damn good!

Also, the inner monologue in this is so damn funny, right up my alley. Exactly what I wanted in this moment of time.
