Kane was the dragon that flew Arwen to Shadowhold. She patted his neck by accident.

The twist is noteworthy. I’m getting major Gild vibes. Not only is Kane Slade-like with his dark shadowy power, but Arwen is becoming Auren. Even the names are similar. Auren becomes strong and is a force in the end. Arwen is angry and has the power to destroy nearly everything in her path. Kane calls her bird. Slade called Auren goldfinch.

Kane is giving Slade vibes. His power can basically rot people. Vines shoot out and a dark shadowing power does the killing. That was hopefully the last secret Kane held. The only part I dislike is that both Arwen and Leigh are scared of him now. I understand Leigh; she’s a child. But Arwen has faced hell and back with Kane. How can she doubt him for a minute?

Dagnabbit!!! They were interrupted again!!! They have basically professed their love - at least Kane has, but she hasn’t even cum yet!!! Torture!

They finally kissed on page 302. It was worth the wait. Kane finally told Arwen the truth. He is fae. He tried to overthrow his father the fae king and failed. He referenced a brother. Did he die or is it Griffin? I predict Griffin is fae too. And I also believe Arwen is fae. The kiss was worth the wait because the truth is out. There is open trust between them. But I fear Kane is hiding one more secret.

This is such a slow burn. It’s Chapter 20 and they haven’t even kissed yet! The banter is good. Kane has achingly romantic lines. They’ve been close to kissing, and each they get interrupted. When will it happen?

Sagan is far that’s why his family was killed. And I predict Arwen is fae. And Kane knows it. Her healing powers come from lighte. She never met her true father because he was fae probably killed. Powell probably beat her because he suspected or knew. She suffers panic attacks because Powell probably enclosed her in tight spaces. Is he secretly still alive? Arwen’s power does not work on her mom. Why?

Lingering questions: will Arwen ever see her family again? Are Kane and Arwen fated mates? What secrets is Kane keeping from Arwen? Can Kane shapeshift into a dragon? Why does he have a weird bird trapped in his bedroom? Why does he call Arwen bird?

It’s good. It starts on a suspense. There are some terrible moments when Arwen is captured. Bert is a villain. The way Arwen and Kane meet is perfect. He is disguised as a fellow prisoner. Gives me Slade vibes from Gild. Kane is characterized as a terrible cruel king. Frightening. But of course he has a heart of gold. I’m sucked in.

hmm maybe now she’ll finally figure out that that guy is bad news
