My heart has been in my throat since I started reading from where I had stopped. Succinctly written with perfect pacing. Tension has reached an oppresive crescendo. I feel like my knees would fold if I were standing. Beneath the oodles of blood, gluttony, and every depravity described in technicolor detail there are moral issues, family loyalty crises, a boy's waivering faith, and the anguish of young love.

I started reading Timothy King's newest release "The Harvesting" tonight. Reader engagement is high and it was difficult to tear myself away from the storyline. The plot deals with a virgin blood sacrifice to "the ancients", a pagan practice which is carried out once every 13 years. The brutal practice is spearheaded by " The Prophet" ostensibly meets with "the ancients" and the ritual is worse than you can imagine.

A strong opening chapter, it's giving me The Lottery by Shirley Jackson vibes, this might be a read in one or two days kind of book 👏
