The Jewish representation was spot on. I'm glad that Rebecca Bendheim researched Judaism and interviewed a rabbi so that she could accurately portray progressive Judaism and Jewish holidays and customs (i.e. Lacey's bat mitzvah, Rosh Hashanah, and Yom Kippur).

I'm so, SO happy that I read this book during Pride Month. It was a joy to read.

That was a perfect and fitting ending to a beautiful book. Lacey's character development showed at the end and I loved that. She came into her own throughout the book. That was portrayed skillfully.

I appreciate Isa's apology to Lacey. It was thoughtful that she made something for Lacey as a bat mitzvah gift.

Her breath is quick, like a truck zipping by on the highway. The breeze of speeding toward something.

I hope that Lacey's dad finally made her a rainbow cake!! 🤞🏳️‍🌈

Good for Lacey for standing up to Nell. She didn't tell Nell off, but I'll take whatever I can get. 😉😇

I love how Andre told Lacey that her sister was kind of scary. 🤣 As I wrote many updates ago, I love that Mack is a force. She's one of my favorite characters in this book. She's inspiring!! 😊

Here's to hoping that Lacey tells off Nell before the end of the book. 🤞🙏 That bratty little monster. 😖😤

I get why Lacey's mind went down that road, but it wouldn't make sense for Grace and her moms to abruptly decide that they didn't want to attend Lacey's bat mitzvah. Irrational thinking is a beast. It can be hard to cope with and fight against.

In two weeks and two days, I am going to become a bat mitzvah. There's no flutter in my chest, though, because instead of picturing myself at the bimah, I keep imagining Grace opening my email, telling her moms she doesn't want to come to Rhode Island anymore.

No, no, no!! Overthinking is the worst!! 😔

'You're your own person.' He turns to Mack, who's riding shotgun. 'Both of you are. My job is to cheer you two on with whatever you decide to do, whoever you decide to be. I'm sorry I didn't see that.'

That was a damn good apology from Lacey's dad. Good for him!! 😁

I'm all for Lacey being true to herself instead of "trying" to be straight when it's clear that she's not.

I'm hesitant to make guesses about the storyline or the upcoming events because I don't want to feel foolish or dumb if I'm wrong. I'm on the cliched edge of my seat and I'm tempted to read spoilers. 😆 And I'm very emotionally invested in the characters.

I enjoyed Lacey's heart to heart with Pax. She (meaning Pax) was very supportive of Lacey. That didn't surprise me at all.

Lacey's friendship with Grace is rocky rn. I feel bad for Lacey about that.

It looks like Lacey's worlds are about to collide. 😮

Poor Lacey is getting the cold shoulder from Isa and Nell. 😟😔 How mature of Isa and Nell. *sarcasm* Yes, because giving a friend the silent treatment is the best way to solve a problem. 🙄

It looks like Isa and Nell's plan to help Lacey isn't going to work out.

I'm glad that Nell was accepting of Lacey when she came out to her. I thought that the opposite would happen, but I've made it clear that I'm not a Nell fan.

'Who cares if he liked Joseph? He still let his brothers sell him into slavery. It's like my dad said, doing nothing is the same as saying you agree.'

Lacey is a smart cookie. It seems like she's getting the rabbi to think. 😉

Lacey is about to come out to Nell. As in, Nell the brat. 😖😵‍💫 Oy fucking vey!!

Yay!! Lacey came out to Mack and she accepted Lacey and reassured her that it was good that she wanted to kiss a girl. 😁

This part reminded me of the scene in Star-Crossed by Barbara Dee where Mattie came out to her older sister. And she accepted Mattie.
