I’ve given this book a hard time for all the little things, but the intrigue? That’s solid. I can forget about the diary prose and the way it unfolds backwards without warning and the police interviews being spaced far apart, but at the end of the day I love a good brain teaser

I’ll give the author this: they used the Death tarot appropriately. It doesn’t always mean literal death. It’s all up to interpretation

I’m so thrown off by the “ha ha” typed out. But the mystery is intriguing, so ignore all my complaints, I’m here for thr grand reveal

If there’s one thing I can say about this book, it’s that people don’t usually write diary entries like this. Maybe the author does? But it’s very conventional fiction prose, it doesn’t have the diary writing feel.

Oh my god. I just figured it out. All my “this doesn’t make sense, I don’t understand, what is the pacing”? It’s Merrily We Roll Along. The story goes backwards.
The diary entries aren’t dated so those threw me off. I assumed they were supposed to be flashing us back to the present. It was a wrong assumption. It’s merrily we roll along.
