Incident: In the book Fast Break, the inciting incident occurs when Jayson Barnes gets caught stealing a new pair of basketball shoes because he couldn't afford to buy it with his own money. He has been living in his own poverty after his mother's death and her boyfriends abandonment. This forces Jayson to go into the foster care system living with a new family.

Inciting Incident: the inciting incident in the novel would have to be when Josh was caught at the mall trying to steal shoes early on In the book. This caused Josh to be put in a foster home and live with a family called the Lawtons.

The plot that most describes the book Fast Break is comedy. I chose this because it is a happy, hopeful, and dramatic ending when his basketball team, (Bobcats) won the state championship realizing that he was homeless and use all of his dedication and hard work to get there to have a happy, hopeful future.

The main character in the book Fast Break is Jayson Barnes. This book is about a 12 year old basketball player who plays point guard and is lightning fast. It takes place in North Carolina. It is a chronological narrative with flashbacks.

In the book Fast Break, there are a lot of emotions such as excitement, empathy, and sensation What makes these emotions happen is when they are playing games, practicing, and what happens in the locker room.
There is also pressure about being a teenager and what they expect in you for basketball.

In my book I think Jayson is a dynamic character because even though his mom left him for good, the book makes him over go through those hardships which makes him do what he does. When Jayson's mom leaves him, he tries to not get caught by the CPS, and as he grows up, he develops and becomes who he is, making the story liked, and he grows up to have friends and a sport he likes.

I think my book's conflict is Man vs Society because In the book it tells about how Jaysons mother leaves for good and tell's Jayson to not get caught by child protective services and to survive. In pg 12 it said "Jayson I wont be back, try to survive but don't get caught by child protective services" he shows it is man vs Society by stealing thing's in order to survive but not get caught by Child protective services

My predictions for the main character Jayson Barnes is that he will be found by child protective services because he was trying to survive but has done lots of risky things. He will be placed into a a new family, and will may be get kicked out. One of the reasons I think of this is because of the back, on the back it says how he may get found. In chapter 1, his mother passes away, leading him to fend for him self.

The point of view of the book "fast break" is told by a 3rd person omniscient. This is because the narrator know's what the character's are feeling, the narrator also know's what they are thinking in all the character's head's. ex: "coach Ronny was really disappointed at Jayson, but Jayson didn't notice" on page 47. Showing that the narrator know's what the character's are thinking. This is the point of view.

Jayson Barnes is the main character in the book "Fast Break". Jayson Barnes is a children/teen who has group of friends who love to play basket ball, some of his friends aren't the brightest or the smartest but he has a crew(his group of friends) This book from what I read so far, from what I think Jayson may be nice but lives in a bad area and his friends are sometimes bad friends/kids. He also grows up in America.
