David Sedaris is just fucking mean. "It's not about mocking people. Rather it's the music of what they're saying and how unexpected and delightful it is." My god he sounds like a stuff old dowager from Downton Abbey.
He's not just mean, he is no longer funny. A couple of times I found myself chuckling but stopped when the funny situation landed with a thud.

Past memories from reading Sedaris are filled with laughter. After reading the first 6 or 7 essays I've yet to smile, snicker or grin. I hadn't realized how popular he is since most all the stories stem from experiences on book tours. Regardless, if the next few are as lackluster as the first, this will end up in the DNF pile
