I don't get it. He's so conflicted and he doesn't protest then goes all in? Why even?? Why lie? Why be so honest about it? It feels like an unnecessary concession/win for the bad guy. I am not longer upset but this is a band-aid to my complaints, not an improvement, I am afraid. (As a side note, the transition between POVs was pretty awkwardly done.)

I am trying here, okay? I overlooked the cover (a huge concession), I accepted the flashback prologue, I didn't grumble at the obvious exposition talk (too much) and I am not protesting the... alley scene but Dimitri staying quiet in this situation? There are lines not to cross, okay? And I am fighting super hard not to kick this book to the curb - as a former bully, this is NOT how you earn your redemption!
