Status Updates From Behind Locked Doors

DNF.... Edward is one of the most unlikable characters that I've ever read.

Enjoying it, but conflicted... I understand Edward and yet, I am not sure I like him and his behaviour anyway...

Really liking this, except for all the scenes in the past, it's really annoying.

Love the cover! Story is very good so far. Hard to find words to say how much I'm enjoying the writing style <3

Isaac had kept up a sordid private life for years, had enabled the indulgences of men for nothing but fifty pounds a visit...
(I just want to say that fifty pounds at the turn of the century was a lot of money.)

But since Isaac came into his life, Edward's lips were tainted, corrupted, and he didn't dare lay them upon Peter's innocent skin. It would be unforgivable. And yet Isaac was the same man responsible for the feelings he had now, had to be the cause of this sudden blossom of endearment.
Tonight he had unintentionally awakened in Edward not only the need to receive more affection but to give it.

"Edward."
It sounded like a sob, the way Isaac said his name. Edward realised Isaac's hands weren't clutching anymore, not the way Edward was, but gently stroking his hair. For the first few seconds, Edward imagined it to be a lover's touch, a comforting caress. Only moments later did he feel like a child being soothed, and immediately pulled back as soon as the thought struck him.

He yearned for this closeness, this warmth that he couldn't find anywhere else. Despite everything, despite knowing it to be impossible, he wanted to nestle here and stay with Isaac forever, where he belonged.

Edward's head was still reeling at seeing Isaac's wiry legs and feet in stockings, of all things, that he didn't notice, until the first delicate touch, that Isaac had placed his foot over Edward's cock and applied the tiniest amount of pressure.

(All these memories/flashbacks...)

There was also the matter of sex. As if his masochistic desires alone weren't enough, Edward had to have more sinful inclinations as well. His enjoyment of pain wasn't the only thing he'd learnt about himself at school.

Later, he would be ashamed of what he was, ashamed because he loved this so much, loved what Isaac did to him and how Isaac made him feel. He wanted this; he wanted to be used and hurt, and his throbbing erection was only more evidence of that. Now, however, at this moment, there was only the desperate need to do better.
