Status Updates From الشطرنج

I don’t enjoy Novelas often so I do find I wasn’t connected to it, but it was really well written and the story was engaging and it was a nice piece of historical fiction that taught me new things. As a chess lover, this story definitely hit a little hard harder because its about chess and the ending was good it just wasn’t for me. This was a 3.75 stars, the writing was good I just wasnt emotionally attached

Am I understanding it on a deeper level? No. Am I enjoying it? Yes. I need to stop reading classic so late at night because it is so difficult to analyze I love all the historical context it’s giving, and the little things I’m learning about World War II. I think outside of liking the story and trying to decide if it’s good the information I’m getting about that time period and author is just as important

Third classic of the year and I love the way he describes chess. “the only game that belongs to all peoples and all eras… where does it begin, where does it end?” I am so sat for this
