This is a beautiful story of friendship set within the backdrop of Iran beginning in 1950s Iran. It’s a powerful story of the strength of women and, as a subtext, a minority of men who stand with them. Highly recommend this well-crafted and beautifully written book. Can’t wait to read more of Marjan Kamali’s work!

I am very clueless about all things I ran, but I had no idea that it was in 1979 that they said all women must be veiled. I just thought that that was their historical how it always had been.
