Status Updates From Beneath The Ashen Sky

This is in desperate need of an editor. While I get the meaning of sentences like "A throbbing headache pulsed through my own skull, which as I probed with my fingers discovered wore a deep, swollen gash." it isn't exactly a pleasure to read.
The heavy usage of the past perfect tense is a chore to read aswell.
I hope that will soon switch too simple past.
