Status Updates From Carol: Being a Ghost Story ...

This is something she’s going to go to prison for, right? Drunk driving, caused an accident, that’s something people go to jail for, not just pay to replace a car?

Immediately forgot everything that ghost just saw her, huh? This idiot, I’d be happy she died…

I don’t think this author understands Scrooge, he’s not just a jerk like this main character Carol, he’s got unreasonable standards that he holds himself and everyone else to, he’s working on Christmas too when he expects Bob to work, he’s in the cold, he’s denying himself festive fun as well as deriding the celebrations of others…

The original book would already be done by now, why is this book so long and boring?

This version is really dragging…

A modern take on Dickens, with high school students rather than businessmen

When meeting the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come, Carol sees everyone’s tragic future: Philippe falls back into alcoholism, her aunt Valerie’s and uncle Mike’s marriage has become a miserable one, and Christopher is a married man with a kid on the way, working at a boring office job—given up on his passion for art. At the dance, Carol learns that Ryan is a womanizer who treats girls like cheap toys.

Carol learns some new things about the people in her life: her aunt and uncle turn down their plans of adopting a three week old baby girl from Beijing in favor of taking her in. Christopher asks Roberta to the dance, and Phillippe is dire financial difficulties.

I got to the part of the book, where Carol meets the Ghost of Christmas Past and sees her memories of Christmas from her childhood. I can’t believe that her parents were originally going to name her Eve before they changed their mind and decided to name her Carol instead. When I read how her sister got pneumonia and her parents dying en route to visit her on her birthday—that I actually cried!
