Interesting perspective on how deference politics—aka listening to the most marginalized voices—isn’t as progressive as it sounds, since it usually means listening to voices that have already made it into the room. What’s the alternative, then?

Constructive (as opposed to deference) politics: focusing on the outcome and not the process, pursuing specific goals rather than merely avoiding complicity.
