reading about Chase Memorial Nursing Home is making me so incredibly thankful to have visited this particular nursing home in Slovenia last year where they implemented similar things, but rather than dogs, cats, and parakeets, they have pigs! that they slaughtered! because all of the food the residents ate was from their farm!

Atul Gawande would greatly benefit from being educated on the roles of physical and occupational therapist in maintaining some of the quality of life metrics that he discusses in this book. As a therapist, he has a very frustrating attitude towards aging and maintaining function.

It's daunting enough to read this book again, even more so when you have to lead a discussion on it. We'll see how this goes!
