Status Updates From House of Day, House of Night

A small Polish village on the Czech border contains the entire world as we meet the people who have lived their in one intriguing and odd vignette after another with the story of the unnamed narrator and her neighbor, Marta, loosely holding this novel together.

To summarise it glibly, this book is structured as a series of anecdotes about a small town interlaced with the narrator remembering things her neighbour, an old Polish lady who believes that people born near rocks are ontologically rock-like, once said. It's probably one of the ten or so best books I've ever read
