finished reading the second story, and somehow it reminds me of Anton Chekhov and the melancholy draped in his writing. the stories are short, nothing flashy but its got that tint of bitter sweetness of simple life and its difficulties. this is the first book I'm reading of Ichiyo Higuchi and now I'm excited to read more of her works!!!
