I’m happy that everyone still admonishes Eureka for attempted murder. Dorothy is wayyy too quick to forgive.

So lemme get this straight, Dorothy sees her aunt and uncle MOURNING HER APPARENT DEATH, and still waits another day to return home? How cruel.

And Zeb’s family… doesn’t mourn him at all? They’re just like “well, what’d’ya know? Zeb and Jim didn’t die after all! How nice!” XD

Why are we acting like the piglets can no longer talk? Why didn’t the lost one call out for help? Why didn’t the substitute one object to being used to give freedom to its sibling’s supposed murderer?

“If your thoughts were any good they wouldn’t become confused.” “Your manner is a trial to us all.” “He has no mind to see with.” Roasting the Woggle-Bug is what this book’s been missing! XD

Why can’t Ozma make friends with Jellia? Because she’s a servant? What makes Dorothy so special?

The resolution of the this better be that the piglet isn’t actually dead, because if this book just has CASUAL PIG MURDER I’m gonna be pissed. I want to like Eureka and it’ll be hard if she ACTUALLY ate one of the piglets. But if Eureka didn’t eat the piglet, then it’s weird she’s not trying to deny it.

We just RIPPED ONE OF THE PIGLETS AWAY FROM ITS SIBLINGS?? Why not have them all become royal pets?

I used to like Jim a lot, and I still pity him, but he’s kind of a jerk. Kicking the Sawhorse so rudely just because he’s mad he lost?

But the Sawhorse finally gets some recognition! Sweet baby is crowned Prince of Horses! He’s the definition of a real horse by Oz standards, I love it so much. He deserves it.

Okay, so Jim is kind of an ass. I feel bad for him that he apparently was treated pretty poorly by Zeb’s family and basically doesn’t know how to react to kindness and respect, but he’s being a jerk about it. Ridiculing the Sawhorse for NO REASON. My poor miserable saw baby has never done anything wrong in his life and yet everyone is so meant to himmm.

The poor Gump head! Ozma doesn’t let him talk???? WTF

NO. Baum DIDN’T BLEND THE HISTORIES THOROUGHLY ENOUGH. It was explicitly stated in book 2 that the Wizard got rid of Pastoria and hired Mombi to keep Ozma hidden away so she could never usurp his throne. WHY ARE WE PAINTING HIM AS A GOOD GUY??? (And since when did Mombi ever RULE the North??)

First of all, Dorothy and Ozma agreed on her looking in every WEEK, not every day. Secondly, you COULD’VE MADE THE GESTURE AT ANY TIME THE LAST FEW DAYS AND YOU DIDN’T, DOROTHY???

Wait, if there are no horses in Oz, then why would they call their board sawing stand a sawhorse??

So again we say that the Wizard built the Emerald City himself? I thought he ousted King Pastoria? Did Pastoria live elsewhere in Oz?

THEY BURNED THE WINGS??? “They had no further use for them.” YOU COULD FLY?? YOU WANT TO REACH THE SURFACE OF THE EARTH. ABOVE YOU. WHY ARE THEY SO STUPID.

You know what, yeah, at this point I’d be pissed if they just abandoned the buggy after all the ridiculous trouble they’ve gone to thus far to keep it.

I can’t imagine raising a baby for over sixty years. Couldn’t be me. This dragon mom is elite.

Dorothy what do you MEAN you can’t say “climb down”?? What backwater hick Kansas school is she attending? And she has the audacity to chastise Jim when she calls Gargoyles “Gurgles”? Happy he roasted the hell out of her for it.

Their thought processes always astound me. I thought everyone would get their own pair of wings, but no, sure let’s just attach ALL OF THEM TO THE HORSE AND BUGGY INSTEAD.

Dorothy needs to get over her complex about making animals behave as humans do. Just because they can talk doesn’t make them any less animalistic. Also, what do you mean you’ve never heard of a cat eating PORK?

No one ever listens to Jim. And ffs abandon the buggy. Dragging it up the steep mountain is ridiculous.

IF THE WIZARD HAD REVOLVERS THIS WHOLE TIME WHY DID HE USE A SWORD ON THE INVISIBLE BEARS???

The way they have to go up stairs around an entire freaking mountain, and STILL expect the buggy to come with them. Insane.

What a random, odd little fellow the braided man is. I love how they don’t question how you can possibly package flutters and rustles. I wonder how their little gifts will become useful later in the story.

Implying that the Scarecrow is a warrior is truly absurd. He’s made of straw.

The chapter is titled “They Fight the Invisible Bears” but they don’t really. They just run away from them and it’s not even by their own cleverness. Some other random villager has a convenient magical solution.

Why would a cat be tempted by fruit? They’re carnivores.

Aw, poor Jim. Zeb is such a jerk for making him think the bears were on his tail. Honestly DESERVED that he should fall out of the buggy.

So the core of the earth had six miniature suns, and now this in-between place has none, but somehow is still lit? Are we gonna explain how that works?

The people of Voe can’t see each other either? How do they not constantly run into each other? You’d think there would be a better way to avoid bears. Also the idea of invisible bloodthirsty bears is actually terrifying.

Poor Jim is so hungry all the time T-T
