Continues to impress me, some of the best sci-fi I've read. Though some stories are (I think purposely) kind of silly but written so that it still feels serious (like Of Ants and Dinosaurs) which makes for great entertainment.
Maybe I'll actually finish it, would probably be the longest book I've read

The Whale
“Humanity recruiting innocent creatures into their vile wars is already the greatest sin. I devoted myself to my country and its military; I had the qualifications to get what I wanted.
And since society denied me that, I might as well go take it myself?”
I wouldn’t have expected Cixin Liu to write this story if I’m being quite honest. I really liked the combination of marine life and war.

Cixin Liu has now become of my favourite sci-fi authors! In these short stories he does not hold back his imagination (yet somehow keeps things at least somewhat believable). Totally recommend

Glory and Dreams - 2/5 stars - incredibly short and ends abruptly, to the point that I wonder if this translation is incomplete?

Only planning on reading the three stories that I haven't already read and/or don't already own in other collections.
Fibers (sic, although this English translation first appeared in a UK publication, it uses the American spelling...) - 4/5 stars; pleasant but short and thus fairly shallow multiverse story

The style is familiar having read three body problems. The stories read so far have all been strong and thought provoking. His messages are unsettling and I have a sense of discomfort when reading. The village teacher, wandering warmth and fire in the earth are the three I have just read. The power of will both individual and group easily undermined by trust is one you will recognise in current world events
