“She’d hunt me down? Wouldn’t your husband do that? Wait, I shouldn’t assume—do you want to get married?” 

“Or I’ll be enticed to do something idiotic, like letting my friends convince me to get a random tattoo.” 
She sips her drink, eyes drifting to me over the rim. “What did you get and where?” 
“Those jellyfish from SpongeBob? They’re on my pec.” I roll my eyes. 
“You have to show me.”
“I’ll show you… but you’ll have to get a tattoo with me.”
“Like right now?”
“Right now.”

“What are we toasting to now?” 
She spins in her chair, her crossed legs resting against the inside of my knee. I swallow thickly, thinking of this moment and not the memory of what she felt like when I made her come. 
“Everything.” She beams.
I’m not sure she notices but she’s rubbing her leg against mine. And if she does, she’s doing nothing to stop.

“You really didn’t need to do that, but thanks.” 
“I wanted to, and why not?” He takes a swig of his beer, staring intently at me. 
“I don’t want to seem ungrateful, but it’s not like I’ll wear this dress again.” 
“You could for me.” He smirks. 
“And then what would we do?” I lean forward, moving away from his touch.
“Stuff,” he replies.”

We walk farther until we find a red high-top table, nestled in the corner right underneath the disco ball. The table and chairs sparkle from the lights reflecting off the mirrors on the ball.

“I feel like I didn’t get to appreciate you in the dress long enough. It’s not fair that you got to be around so many people and they had the chance to see you in it all night, to sit next to you. It’s not fair and I’m not sorry when I say I’m going to be selfish because I want my time now with you while you’re wearing this dress.”

“I am, but right now, I’m going to be extra honest,” he says, and I snicker but don’t comment.

I’ll make it quick.” She drops her hand just as Dad takes his place by her side. “Who is she?”
“She’s…” I stagger
“Maybe the girl and you can switch, she can go out with Frost.”
“But she⁠—”
“Just tell the girl there’s been a change of plans,” Dad interjects, sounding uninterested. “She’ll understand.” 
“I can’t do that because she’s my girl…friend”

“I—” I falter. Why am I cockblocking Anna? She could be interested. Alex isn’t bad looking, and he’s a decent guy in general. But fuck that, I’m better looking and I’m not just decent, I’m great. “She didn’t but she came here with me, so back the fuck up and stay in your lane”

I don’t know what we’re doing or why I like this so much, but I can’t bring myself to question it. 
He leans down “Can I touch you? Please let me touch you. I need to feel you, Anna.” 
The desperation in his voice really throws me off. I asked him to make it sound like it but didn’t anticipate the genuine desire, the yearn raw in his voice, the searing look in his eyes.  
“Do it.”

“I’m sorry.” 
“For what?” I’m breathless and hot. 
“I didn’t ask if I could touch you.” His eyes turn molten as they rake over me again. 
My lips tick up. “Ask me and make it sound desperate.”
