I'm so tired of characters giving vague warnings to "watch out for that one, she'll screw you over" and then no one giving details. That's not how rumors and gossip work, especially not teenagers! Of course they'd say that they think Emma lied about Tom's assault just to get him arrested and get kicked out of school. It's a cheap drama trick and it's frustrating. The bad teenage drama is taking over the mermaid plot.
