for the first half this plays like basically a very eccentric take on the whole cyberpunk noir detective subgenre, before then flying off into the trippiest possible interpretations of quantum mechanics - curious to see how this pans out

I've continued, under the illusion that Egan is having one over here, sort of a lampooning, but things are getting twisted around enough that this is getting irritating

Gah!! This has been going along so WELL is every way, but now looks like he's blown out the plot from a confused premise!! He doesn't seem to be able to differentiate emotions & (logical) thought... And who sees EVERY decision, such as whether to eat or not as a CHANGE IN ONE'S IDENTITY??

I am not sure if it’s normal to almost entirely forget a novel after barely few years, but I don’t complain - rereading this one is fun.
