Status Updates From The Library at Hellebore

I can’t stop thinking about this book.

THE LIBRARY AT HELLEBORE is blowing my mind. I’ve never read anything so grim, gory, and darkly funny. I’m looking up words I’ve never come across left and right. Khaw’s writing is masterful.

3.1/5 Goodreads rating aside (this book won’t be for everyone) I’m getting strong indications TLaH will be my first 5⭐️ of the year

These bas reliefs better end up being extremely important. And why are multiple characters using the phrase “goth mommy”?

I’m at 28% and I have no idea what’s going on. This is probably partly on me for always reading before bed and I’m sure I’m missing things when I’m sleepy, but I also think the writing is just hard to follow - lots of jumping around in time but all the chapter headings just say “before” instead of distinguishing between different “befores,”; dialogue broken up by really long descriptive asides; etc
