Going into this book with the expectation of a YA novel, I am pleasantly surprised. The writing is clear, conscientious, if not a bit simple, but engaging. The language is effective at building the world and characters are well thought out with relatable emotions and motivations. The plot has a steady pace and there is enough mystery to keep the reader interested.
