There's probably an answer but I've always wondered why Odysseus had to sail past Charybdis and/or Scylla. The book makes it sound like it's his first time encountering them, but presumably he passed them on his way to Troy? Or was there another route he took? Why can't he take that route?? Are Charybdis and Scylla a new thing??
