I'm beginning to really dislike this book. I'm so sorry. It almost reminds me of that one movie, "The Whale" (2022). Controversially, I didn't love that movie, as the prevailing attitude seemed to be that the father thought his kid would do best without him and so he didn't need to be a father after all. That's the exact read I'm getting from Caldwell.
