I don't care if it doesn't make sense. My 10 sons better win this race.

I just got to the first big race and it was electric.

The book has a really good pace even when juggling a main cast of 10 runners.

Just writing down my thoughts for each chapter as I finish them.

I can really see the influence this book had on sports series in Japan. While the likes of Rocky, Ashita no Joe, and classic characters like Minamoto no Yoshitsune influence the underdog story.
I can see the bones of the "team" sports stories that have become popular in modern times with things like Haikyuu and Koroke no basket in this book.

There's just something about a classic sports story that hits, and it rarely has anything to do with the sport itself.

I don't know if it is just coincidence, but a lot of translated Japanese works all seem to have the same cadence to them. "Subject, Metaphor" or vice versa. Never just metaphor.
I imagine it's just a quirk of directly translating the language. And doesn't impact my enjoyment, just an observation.
