Status Updates From Rakkautta italiaksi

Anna got herself into trouble by getting too personal in her restaurant review. She had intended to write something personal and with an intended middle finger to her ex-boyfriend Pete (knowing thta his mother read her articles) but instead upset her co-worker Joe and his girlfriend Julia.

I am glad that Anna is finally going to dump Pete. It is a shame that Anna had to see him cheating on her to finally take the step - even without the cheating, Pete had not treated Anna well, and his spreadsheet was awful. It seems there is something going on between Anna and her coworker Joe, but Joe alreday has a girlfriend, Julia.

The three main characters interact in this chapter. Sophie is offering to help Anna in her quest to find her Italian father. Catherine is asking Anna about what could happen if an NHS doctor is regularly receiving a large sum of money. Anna is keen to dig into it, however, Catherine could not tell that the doctor is actually her husband (who had no problem going ahead and selling their home and make her homeless...)

I really hope Anna follows through and breaks up with Pete. It is obvious that she does not love him. Anna is feeling relief when she does not have to spend the evening and night with him. Even worse is that Pete is having a spreadsheet rating their intimate encounters with harsh comments about her body and performance... Why is Pete with Anna if he acts like that?

Finally, all three main characters have met each other. I have felt very sorry for Catherine having to deal with her cheating husband, who accused her of "trapping him with the pregnancy." Anna does not have much better luck with love. Her boyfriend Pete suggested that they move in together because he is getting kicked out of his place... Sophie is busy dealing with her complicated relationship with her parents.

Luckily for Catherine, Penny was prepared to have her over at Christmas. The pretend-Christmas with Mike, their children, and his parents did not go well. Mike did not even help Catherine with all the preparations! When Catherine suggested that Mike help his parents with a drink, they refused the suggestion because "Mike works so hard."No-one appreciated Catherine's efforts so she eventually snapped and went to Penny

Have to praise Penny again. Catherine said she and Mike are going to pretend that everything is normal at Christmas - a suggestion from Mike that cheated on Catherine and walked out of their home. Penny made it clear that Catherine and her twins have the option to celebrate Christmas with her instead. It was obvious that Penny disliked Mike's pretend idea, but she had to let Catherine make her own choices...

Everyone should have a Penny in their life. Penny is so supportive and honest with Catherine.
