Incredibly fascinating. I love it when a non fiction book makes it hard for me to put it down.

I needed a distraction from my thoughts on a walk and this was the first available audiobook that remotely appealed to me. Chapter 1 was interesting. I liked his chocolate exercise. Mindful eating as a way to experience pleasure and glory. Anyway, listening to this did the job.

This book must be read slowly, felt, allowed to lead the imagination and senses. It is dense, but give it time and every page might nourish or rouse you. I think I would like a fuller treatment of the link Selby sees between biblical theophanies and the mystics’ ecstatic visions. Selby’s capacity to evoke desire or longing, alongside Lewis, is where the real magic is.
