Keeping my attention – especially the setting and time period. The section I just finished covers 1886-1902. The protagonists insecurities can be a bit annoying but still helps develop the character.

Chap. 1-5 1877-85 Runaways and a tear-inducing death, moving to the country, Ellen's marriage, a new baby girl, library visits. Susan's knack for midwifery and herbal medicine.
