I’m worried the author doesn’t actually know the meaning of the word “pried,” because this is the second time it’s been used (incorrectly) to describe shutting something

Listen I’m genuinely trying my hardest to get through this without being a total b, and I can’t tell if it’s the narrator or the writing or me being in a bad mood or a mix of all 3, but I find all of the characters deeply annoying and I’m not sure why I just spent an entire hour listening to excessively flowery descriptions of a city when literally five minutes would have done just fine but I’m tired bro

I’m trying my best here, but between the slight southern twang of the audiobook narrator and the odd word choices (“pried my eyes closed,” “his eyes were shaking”), I’m not sure if I’ll make it through. Will reevaluate a bit later.

How did I become so quickly invested in this adventure. 😭
