Getting through this is a struggle😩

I’m growing impatient with this book and I’m really not sure why. However, the thematic concern with the history of Ireland and the “old ways” and how they conflict with modernization and the needs of the next generation in the capitalist world is compelling! It’s strange to me though how law enforcement is portrayed as corrupt and inept, while Cal’s police training makes him infallibly smart.
