Why is this so slapstick and farcical? Why did no one warn me? Why the hype? Note to self: never fall for the hype. NEVER!!!

Aside from the story sounding ridiculous and it's so trope-heavy and bonkers, the female narrator (I'm assuming) has made a deliberate choice to pitch the heroine's character in the upper squeaky high pitch hurt your ears register. It is literally hurting my ears and my brain to listen to her.

Wow, the heroine's narrator's voice is like nails on a chalk board and all that bubblegum false cheer is making me want to hurl something. Preferably her, out a window. I don't think I'm gonna make it through this book. Hero's narrator's voice is awesome though.
