This chapter has basically given an overall impression on classical cryptography.

And btw, it seems like the study of modern cryptography also requires explicit definitions and proof, which is pretty normal—cryptography is mathematical, after all.

Just the basics, not hard.

I started reading it this morning. Although it's a textbook, it's pretty easy to understand and I think it's perfect to read it just for fun.

Skipped some proofs but CBC Macs are secure and so are authenticated encryptions if they are encrypt-then-authenticate :-)

Learned a lot about CBC and other synchronized and unsynchronized encryption modes. Now I reached MACs (Message Authentication Codes). Cryptography is very interesting

all the theory and mathematical definitions are manifesting into a big picture, I guess my brain starts to jumps in :-)
