I watch him sleep the sleep of sheer exhaustion - sort that comes after endless hours of pain. adrenaline of fear or pain will keep one awake for long hours. It would be so easy for victim to simply pass out, and that does sometimes happen. But true artist of pain knows just how far to go before that particular defense mechanism kicks in. If you fail, there's always dash of cold water to get things going again.

I'm not sure how many years it will take for me to see anyplace else as home. I know it happens. People marry and leave home and start their own homes. But some part of where you came from is always home, I think.
