Status Updates From Goddess Complex: A Novel

P. 236 You realize that if you want to give yourself what you want, what you wish you didn’t want, we’ll have to rewrite everything. People tell you that you have a God complex, that all the fertility treatments and the hoping…make you a monster…should accept…But you know that the only way to make your life, your own life is to have this complex. To be arrogant enough to make a whole New World for yourself

So Sanjana is an enigma. I still don’t know if I like her.

So finally we see less stream of consciousness and more action.

Page 143. “So,” I said, my head hurting from all I could ever know about my mother. “You aren’t upset with me for not wanting children. But you also think not having a child means I’ll never understand *duty*. Or family.”…Perhaps it ran both ways; perhaps mothers snd daughters were doomed to look at each other this way, not as people but as foreclosed selves.

So far I am disliking Sanjana more than I am ambivalent about her. Also this reads more like a mid-life coming-of-age more than a novel. This is unfamiliar to me so idk how to enjoy it.

Sanjena is quite the complex character. I simultaneously hate her and love her.
