Status Updates From Acid Green Velvet

I am soooo hyped for this after we read the orange eats creeps for bookclub!!!

Oh this is weird. A lot of coincidental similarities between this and Burnside by Devyn Defoe which also came out this year. The surrealist Californian landscape, roving feral anarcho tramps with weird nick names. Lynchian and bizarre. I’m having Déjà vu?

I’m not liking this at all. Maybe I’m not sophisticated enough to “get it.” It’s a little more experimental, which I was excited about, and even though I have usually have no problem with being thrust into a world and the story plowing straight ahead and the reader (me) having to learn what’s going on on the fly, this isn’t grabbing me and I don’t really even care to find out where this is going.

Very strange and slightly hard to follow. I don’t like the audio narrator’s flat voice
