Status Updates From Bad Boy for Life: The Rise ...

This is very very dense. Good, but dense. So far the author is doing a good job at telling his early story. This is also very reminiscent of the Netflix doc so far, but more objective. Im curious after watching am I going to learn anything new about his case

😖🤬😡😠

Oh yeah. This is gonna really irritate me. Puffy, you POS!

What disturbs me most isn’t even Diddy—it’s the people who surrounded him early on. The book shows witnesses seeing troubling behavior, yet hesitating to speak up or convincing themselves these were isolated moments of a “creative genius.”

I do think this would be great for someone who knows about the situation but hasn’t followed it closely. And I really appreciate the writing style. The author remains extremely neutral, almost like a news article or magazine piece, without trying to sway you in any particular direction.

I think I expected to learn something that wasn’t already public, and so far, I’m not getting much of that. I’m considering DNFing it, but I want to give it a fair chance and finish before reviewing it—although not being able to finish a book is a review in itself.

At this point, as someone who has followed the Sean Combs situation closely from the beginning, a lot of this feels like public knowledge. The author pulls heavily from interviews, videos, and information already out there, so I’m honestly a little bored.

It makes me think about how we view celebrities—we can become so attached to the image they portray that we create a version of them we can love, even when their true characteristics challenge it. I like that the book is asking us to consider not only what we knew about Diddy, but what we may have ignored because it conflicted with what he wanted us to know—and what we wanted to believe.

It explores the reputation he had versus the one he wanted to display, his motivations, and even his figurative thorns in his side.

A couple of key questions about Diddy’s personality and long-standing reputation are already emerging—traits that, in hindsight, perhaps should have echoed warnings and action. I love that the book lays that groundwork from the jump without immediately bashing him. It shows his duality and strategically highlights particular traits that make you question: Who is Diddy, really?
