Status Updates From The Romance Revival

3.5 stars, rounded up for the excellent narrators and significant heartstrings yanking. Not a standard Christina Lauren and I see some ppl didn’t like that, but I had fun. It was not too scientific, as I saw one reviewer complaining. It was, definitely, out there, and almost cartoonish or stereotypical in the thriller/villain story. But we allow that level of unreality in romance novels.

The book made it through the early heartbreak, and I ended up really liking this second chance romance. Maybe I need to read more established-couple romances. Or maybe they’d stress me out too much, lol. The last minute “he deserves better” was maybe a bit much but whatever. The high-stakes external plot was fun. Could’ve had more of that and a lot more of the side characters, they were delightful.
