Wow, everyone’s going crazy. It’s interesting to see how the relationships break down as everyone gets suspicious of everyone else. Connant is not doing anything to help himself, it was quite weird when he focused on the flame…
I have a feeling that either Kinner killed himself, Blair escaped and killed him or The Thing killed him. Also, who’s to say that Blair isn’t a monster?
This is so exciting

I loved the action in this chapter, Campbell makes it really easy to be immersed.
I feel like Connant has been acting weird since he was ‘babysitting’ the Thing but maybe that’s just me knowing he’s one of them as I’ve watched the film. No one is probably gonna believe Blair’s suspicion because he’s gone a bit loopy but even Connant’s reaction to Blair asking him if he’s there was odd…

I’m enjoying this a lot so far. I wonder if The Thing influenced McReady’s dream as he was the one who made first contact with it. But that’s just a theory. I don’t know if it’s just for the plot but there’s no way McReady could have randomly dreamt about exactly what The Thing does
Campbell sometimes describes things too much and I kinda get lost but I don’t know if that’s just me

I’m already so excited to read on, the scene is set so perfectly. Ive watched the film before and I’m not sure if I’m feeling uneasy because I know what they found before they found it, or if it’s because of Campbell excellent writing. I think a mix of both. I’ve only read the first chapter and my passion for this ‘franchise’ is ignited again. I really like the dynamic the characters share

I really enjoyed the Preface and Introduction. It’s so intestine to me how ‘The Brain Stealers of Mars’ became ‘Frozen Hell’ became ‘Who Goes There’. To be honest I’m quite interested to read that original idea. I wonder why the film adaptation was called ‘The Thing’ and not ‘Frozen Hell’
Anyways, I’m more excited to read this book now, the Preface and Introduction really hyped it up

I am in awe of Campbell's singular ability to skip over and not describe any of the dramatic scenes in his own story. It's not even like large scenes are missing - the sentences just skip over whenever something is about to happen and the caesura is made to stand in for the conflicts Campbell apparently could be bothered to write.
I don't think I've ever encountered such perfectly incompetent writing in my life.
