this book does SUCH a good job at highlighting out the contradictory colonialist logic of these men acknowledging the inuit people living in the arctic while also being like "wow I can't believe we're the FIRST PEOPLE here! we're so special and important!!"

sorry, I was doing a disservice not just quoting the toxic gay content directly: "'I could have you lashed for this display.' 'Go on then, Lieutenant,' he said, before pulling me down to his mouth, a siren dragging a sailor to his death. Our lips were cracked and as we collided I tasted blood on my tongue. I couldn't tell whether it was his or mine." hehehe

OMG THE TWISTS AND TURNS AND AHHH- it just gets better and better. I just cried a little at a certain section and at the same time wonder how the hell I didn't connect the strings earlier ;-;

It's happening! The book has gone from "just" gothic historical fiction to *queer* historical fiction B) And oh my (in q good way) it was not the characters I expected... I'm really enjoying having a third pov to follow. I'm a bit worried I know how the plotline between Harry and Lawrence plays out (I'm sensing an unhappy ending) but hopefully I'm wrong ^^'
