One pet peeve of mine is when there is clunky dialogue just to set up a one liner for the main character. Paraphrasing but when the idea of the competition is introduced, the person speaking over-explains and points out the prince is the "prize" in the competition when that was already clear just so the FMC can say she doesn't consider him a prize.
