The first in this incredible series. Tawada takes language very seriously and somehow not seriously at all. I get anxious when exposed to intolerantideologies. I feel no better when asked to acknowledge the primacy of blood and soil. Tawada narrates an existence that allows us to live somewhere else where we each are composed of fragments and where there is a profound meaning to putting these pieces together.

I just noticed this has an average of only 3.25 stars and I am mystified? This book is hilarious and I’m having a great time.

If, like me, you need a cozy sci-fi for your summer reading bingo card because you have read the other ones already, may I suggest this one? So far it is a delightful little gem.
