A little angst, nothing crazy. Didn’t even last a whole chapter. Cute and easy read.

Okay, I was harsh. Every one of these parents need work but they are also Godfearing people and I like that depiction of believers who are not perfect but devoted.

I love that she prayed for them! They both (him and his father) need the hand of God on their lives and a short, messy, honest prayer might have done what it needed. Not knowing what prompted her but trusting the Holy Spirit is how it should be done.

I like the casual insert of faith here and ties back to his faith conversation with his teammate and also him wanting to find something to ground him that’s not a girl.
But would a Christ-following woman enter an arrangement like this, I don’t know.

They both have moms who passed away. Sad.

So she’s her dad’s only kid and her sister that he keeps measuring up to is actually his stepdaughter?!? Super offensive. In losing his wife, he doesn’t cling to his toddler daughter, but remarries fast and makes her a background character in her own life.

Brody, what are we talking about? “Falling for this girl”?? You met this lady two seconds ago, literally. What exactly are you falling for, you know not one thing about this woman.

So maybe his dad will face the consequences of his actions now that he has met the MFC, and is fully enthralled by her.
Some of the writing feels overdone for a male voice “the sun beats down on the tree-lined promenade” what are wet talking about here? This is supposed to be a grown man? Strange.

You can’t help everybody!! This man racked up $50k is gambling debt and needs the help of your money that you cannot afford to give. At some point he must face the consequences of his actions. If he can ask you for this, the next time it’ll be more and he’ll be calling again. Cut it off now.

I have such mixed feelings. I think the authors writing style is amazing! But these characters concern me. I am def not shipping them rn. Tbh the MMC feels like a red flag 😅. Maybe later there will be some growth but I def don’t think either of them belong in a relationship rn…
