Status Updates From Lisey's Story

I'm a fan of "Uncle Stevie," so it's no surprise that I'm enjoying this book on my first read. I love the tie-ins to some of the usual suspects of Castle County, Maine, and was especially tickled to hear the protagonist mention grabbing a Michael Noonan novel for her trip. The book feels almost like the mirror image of Bag of Bones with an equally slow burn up to the climax. I'm just about there.

Okay we'll see but at this point I'm surprised this isn't more well regarded--I am thoroughly immersed and moved!! A story about trauma and grief and horror and love, couched in fantasy and oh jeez it hits.

Maybe the ending will lose me but idk I think if you resonate with those themes this book is doing something!
