I searched his face. Which one of us had lost their mind?
“A donkey kicked in the head six times wouldn’t suggest such an unreasonable course of action. Are you mocking me?”
Arin looked at me until it started to hurt. A covered thumb slid across my cheekbone. “What appeal can reason have in the face of your tears?”

WAIT AW THE WHOLE THING

“A donkey kicked in the head six times wouldn’t suggest such an unreasonable course of action. Are you mocking me?”

lmao

never in my life have i thought id read the word shayatin in a book

“I wonder if the soldiers would attack us.”

“Why on earth would they? We aren’t monsters,” Mehti said, appalled.

“What makes us any different? We are entering this village to kill and maim. In the measure of monster or man, what tips the scales?”

“Choice," Diya said. "The ability to choose is what tips the scales. Monsters have no choice in their evil, but humans choose it deliberately."

wow

For the time being this is gonna be a DNF for me, not because I don’t like the book, but because the audiobook is SOO overacted like I can’t get through chapter 1 which is a shame because I think I’d really like it. Will return again w a physical copy soon I hope
